Meet Stockdale 🤎🐾

Stockdale is a beautiful 3-year-old Black Mouth Cur/German Shepherd mix who seems to have a little bit of everything you could ask for in a companion - she’s social, affectionate, playful, smart and ready to be included in family life.

At 43 pounds, Stockdale is a great medium size and has a nice medium energy level. She loves getting outside, playing and exploring, but she doesn’t need to be constantly on the go. Give her appropriate daily exercise, some mental stimulation and plenty of time with her people, and she’s a happy girl.

Stockdale is good with dogs, cats AND kids, making her a wonderful candidate for many different types of families.

She’s also got some pretty great manners already. Stockdale is crate trained, leash trained and knows sit, down and paw. She’s treat motivated and enjoys learning, so continuing her training should be a fun way for her new family to bond with her.

And if your family likes to go places, Stockdale is ready to come along. She’s great in the car and loves adventures, exploring outside and simply being included in whatever her people are doing.

Her breed combination gives her some pretty wonderful qualities too. Black Mouth Curs are known for being intelligent, athletic, loyal and deeply devoted to their families. They’re versatile working dogs that tend to thrive when they’re included in daily life and given opportunities to use their brains. German Shepherds share many of those same qualities - loyalty, intelligence, trainability and a strong connection to their people.

So while Stockdale certainly enjoys her exercise, what she may love even more is having a life where she gets to participate.

Stockdale has no known health concerns or physical limitations. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative.

There is one important thing her future family should know. Stockdale is not comfortable with nail trims or vaccinations, so these situations need to be approached thoughtfully with appropriate precautions to help keep her comfortable and everyone safe. Cooperative-care training and working with a veterinary team familiar with handling-sensitive dogs could be incredibly helpful for her going forward.

Outside of those specific situations, Stockdale is a loving, fun and affectionate girl who adores attention and seems genuinely excited about life.

She already has so many of the qualities families spend months teaching a new dog - and now she just needs the family to go with them.
