Luke is a beautiful 5-year-old Golden Retriever mix weighing 69 pounds with the gentlest heart and the sweetest old soul. It’s obvious this handsome boy has experienced a difficult life before coming into foster, yet he has remained incredibly kind, loving, and trusting. He truly deserves a future filled with patience, security, and unconditional love.

Luke is wonderfully friendly and gets along beautifully with dogs and cats. While he loves children, because of his size and occasional bursts of playful puppy energy, he would do best in a home without young children, as he could accidentally knock them over during play.

His foster family describes him as one of the kindest dogs they’ve ever met. Most of the time, he happily lets his foster brothers and sisters climb all over him without complaint and simply takes it in stride. He is incredibly patient, affectionate, and gentle.

Luke is fully crate trained, knows how to sit, and is eager to learn new things. He absolutely loves treats, enjoys spending time with his people, and thrives on affection and praise. While his calm, gentle nature is what you’ll notice first, underneath it all is a playful side that absolutely lights up when he gets the chance to run, play, and simply be a dog.

Due to his past, Luke has shown occasional resource guarding around food. This is very rare and has only happened on isolated occasions, but his future family should simply be aware and continue helping him feel secure around mealtimes. Considering everything he has likely been through, his forgiving and loving nature is truly remarkable.
