Meet Layla 💛

Layla is a 2-year-old Labrador Retriever mix weighing 25.4 pounds with the softest soul and the gentlest heart. It’s clear this sweet girl hasn’t always had the stability and love she deserved, but despite everything, she still wants so badly to trust and connect with people.

She can be shy in new environments and around unfamiliar people, but once she feels safe, her loving personality slowly begins to shine through. There is something incredibly special about Layla - the kind of dog who quietly melts into your heart once she realizes she’s finally safe.

Layla does best with calm, passive dogs and would prefer a quieter home without high-energy puppies, as too much chaos can feel overwhelming for her. She is wonderful with cats and kids, and the cats absolutely adore her gentle, respectful nature. She would make a lovely fit for a patient, understanding family willing to give her the kindness and reassurance she deserves.

She is incredibly affectionate, walks nicely on leash, enjoys toys, and is very treat motivated, which will help tremendously as she continues building confidence. Layla is also housetrained and crate trained, making her transition into a home much smoother.

With a low to medium energy level, Layla is happiest in calm environments where she can relax beside her people, enjoy peaceful companionship, and slowly continue blossoming into the dog she was always meant to be.

As a Labrador Retriever mix, Layla is intelligent, loyal, affectionate, and deeply people-oriented. Dogs like her thrive when given routine, reassurance, gentle exercise, and lots of love.

Layla is currently being treated for Ehrlichia and is heartworm positive, following a slow kill treatment protocol. She will need a family committed to continuing her care and prevention moving forward.

After everything she’s been through, Layla deserves a soft place to land - a home where she can finally feel safe, loved, protected, and cherished for the rest of her life.
