Meet Gypsy 💕

Gypsy is an 11-month-old Boxer mix with a big heart, an athletic build, and an even bigger zest for life. At just under 52 pounds, she’s a strong, happy, energetic young girl who is still very much a puppy and learning how to navigate the world. Gypsy came to Rescue as an owner surrender after her previous owner, who had taken her in as a baby from a homeless man, realized she needed more help than she could provide. Reaching out to rescue was an act of love—and now Gypsy is ready for her forever home.

As a Boxer mix, Gypsy embodies many of the traits the breed is known for: affectionate, people-oriented, playful, and full of enthusiasm. Boxers are intelligent, loyal dogs who thrive with structure, consistency, and positive training. They tend to form deep bonds with their people and do best with families who enjoy an active lifestyle and are willing to continue training as their puppy matures into a well-rounded adult.

Gypsy is incredibly friendly and loving. She does great with other dogs that are respectful and nonconfertational. She is good with cats and truly adores people. She loves children, though due to her medium-high energy level and strength, she would do best with kids ages six and up, as she can be a bit rough when she gets excited. One of her favorite things is attention—she’s happiest when she’s soaking it all in, even if that sometimes means trying to give enthusiastic “hugs.” This is a work-in-progress behavior that is being actively redirected with training.

She is very treat-motivated, which makes her a great candidate for continued training. Gypsy is learning leash manners and can be strong and pull at the beginning of walks, but she’s already being taught that calm, focused walking is far more rewarding. She’s also learning how to be comfortable in a crate. While she was initially anxious, with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement she has begun to settle and even relax during her crate time.

Gypsy absolutely loves car rides and makes a wonderful travel companion. She’s happiest when she’s included in adventures or simply along for the ride. Because of her energy level, she would do best in a home with a yard where she can safely run, play, and burn off her youthful energy. A breed-savvy owner who understands Boxer mixes and is committed to continued training, structure, and consistency would be an ideal match for her.

Gypsy is heartworm positive and currently on a slow-kill protocol, which the rescue will help guide her adopters through. She is spayed and otherwise ready to start the next chapter of her life.

Gypsy is a loving, joyful, energetic young dog who needs a family willing to invest time, patience, and training to help her grow into the amazing adult dog she’s meant to be. In return, she’ll offer loyalty, laughter, and endless affection. 💗
