Chief is a 3-year-old Shepherd/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix weighing 72 pounds who has spent far too long in the shelter system waiting for someone to finally choose him.

Dogs like Chief slowly start to fade in shelter environments. No matter how kind the staff or volunteers are, it’s not a home. It’s not a couch to curl up on, a backyard to play in, or a person to call his own. Chief deserves to know what it feels like to truly live in a house, to be part of a family, and to finally feel safe, loved, and wanted.

Despite spending so much time being overlooked, Chief remains incredibly friendly, loyal, and full of love. He still greets people with hope in his eyes. He still wants affection. He still believes someone out there will finally give him the life he deserves.

Chief is house trained and does well with dogs, cats, and kids, making him a wonderful fit for many different homes. He has a medium energy level and loves running, playing, exploring, and simply being included in everyday life. More than anything, he wants connection and companionship.

As a Shepherd/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, Chief is intelligent, loyal, athletic, and deeply people-oriented. He thrives when he has structure, routine, exercise, and a strong bond with his family. He would do best with a home that can provide both physical activity and the emotional connection he has clearly been missing for far too long.

Chief has no known health concerns and is ready to finally leave shelter life behind. He doesn’t deserve to spend another day waiting in a kennel wondering why nobody has come for him.

He deserves soft beds. Walks with his person. A quiet home. A family who says “goodnight” to him every evening and “good morning” every day after that.

Most of all, Chief deserves love.
