Meet Bubba ❤️🐾

Bubba is a big, handsome 5½-year-old Coonhound mix with an even bigger heart. He has been waiting in shelter care since November 2025, and after nearly a year without a permanent home, this incredibly sweet boy deserves the chance to finally belong to someone again.

Bubba originally had a family. His previous owner shared that he lived with children and an infant and was gentle and sweet with them. His family didn’t give him up because of anything Bubba did - life took an unexpected and unfortunate turn, and they were no longer able to keep him.

Since then, Bubba has shown everyone just how loving he is.

He’s the perfect combination of adventure buddy and couch potato. Want to head out for a long walk? Bubba is ready to go - although his Coonhound nose sometimes has its own ideas about where that walk should take you! Want to spend the entire day on the couch watching terrible television? He’s completely on board with that plan too. Just don’t forget his snacks.

Bubba does very well with other dogs and has successfully lived with both male and female dogs of different sizes and ages. In fact, we think having another dog in his future home could be wonderful for him. He should not live with cats or other small animals due to his natural prey drive.

He is also 100% housetrained and makes his needs very clear - he’ll bark or paw at you when he needs to go outside, and once he’s out, he gets right down to business.

Bubba bonds quickly and deeply with his person. He’s affectionate, devoted and has what his foster describes as a big, goofy personality. He does experience some anxiety, but that is only one small part of who this wonderful dog is and shouldn’t overshadow everything he has to offer.

What Bubba really wants is connection. He would likely thrive in a home with another dog or with someone who has plenty of time, affection and companionship to give him. Once Bubba decides you’re his person, he loves you wholeheartedly.

At around 80 pounds, he’s a big boy with classic hound charm, a wonderfully goofy personality and a heart that seems even bigger than he is.

After losing the family he once knew and spending so many months waiting, Bubba deserves stability again. He deserves walks where he can sniff to his heart’s content, lazy days on the couch, another dog to hang out with if possible, plenty of snacks and, most importantly, a person he can love without wondering when everything might change again.

Bubba’s last heartworm test was negative.
