Meet Autumn 🤎🐾

Autumn is a beautiful 6-month-old Bull Terrier mix with the sweetest personality, a gorgeous thick coat and a heartbreaking story that no puppy should ever have to tell.

At just 20 pounds, Autumn has already experienced more suffering than most dogs will in their entire lives. And yet, somehow, she is one of the most affectionate, loving and happy little girls you could ever meet.

Autumn was found abandoned in a crate that she had clearly been confined to for an extended period of time. She had been forced to soil herself and sleep in her own urine, with nowhere clean or comfortable to rest.

When Autumn finally came into our care, her body was severely stained from the conditions she had been living in. Even her little toenails showed the effects of prolonged exposure to the filth around her.

It’s difficult to imagine what those early months of her life must have been like. A puppy should be discovering the world, playing with toys, learning new things and falling asleep somewhere warm and safe.

Instead, Autumn spent some of the most important months of her development confined to a crate.

But what makes Autumn so extraordinary is that none of this has taken away her ability to love.

This little girl absolutely adores people. She wants to be close to you, cuddle with you, follow you around and soak up every bit of affection she can get.

She is genuinely one of those dogs who seems to have an endless amount of love to give, despite receiving so little of it herself.

Autumn is also incredibly smart.

In the short time she’s been experiencing a more normal life, she’s already learned to sit and has developed wonderful recall. She’s eager to engage with her people and shows so much potential.

Because of her difficult start, Autumn will need a family who understands that puppy training, structure and positive reinforcement are incredibly important. She missed out on experiences that most puppies take for granted, and she deserves someone willing to patiently teach her everything she needs to know.

Autumn is good with dogs, cats and children. She loves other dogs and enjoys their company, although she can benefit from being around a confident, well-balanced dog who can model appropriate boundaries and help guide her as she grows.

She has a medium energy level and is currently doing well living in an apartment. However, we would absolutely love to see Autumn find a home with a larger property or a spacious yard where she can run, explore, play and experience all the freedom she was denied during her earliest months.

As a Bull Terrier mix, Autumn may have many of the wonderful qualities this breed is known for - affectionate, intelligent, playful, spirited and deeply devoted to their families. Bull Terriers often have big personalities and thrive with consistent training, enrichment and plenty of human companionship.

Autumn is still growing, and while we can’t predict her adult size, we suspect she may become a medium-to-large dog.

She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative.

What we want for Autumn is more than simply finding her somewhere to live.

We want her to have the childhood she never got.

We want her to experience running through the grass, playing with other dogs, discovering new places, curling up in a comfortable bed and falling asleep knowing that she will never have to live in those conditions again.

We want her to have a family who understands the responsibility of raising a young dog, who will continue her training and who will appreciate just how affectionate and special she truly is.

Most importantly, we want Autumn to be loved as deeply as she loves everyone around her.

This little girl has already survived the worst of what humans can do to an animal, and somehow she still looks at people with nothing but love and excitement.

Autumn deserves the absolute best, and we are committed to finding her an exceptional forever home.
