Meet Ash 🖤🐾

Ash is a handsome 5-year-old Giant Schnauzer with one very clear priority in life - being close to his people. This incredibly friendly boy absolutely soaks up affection. He loves being talked to, having his ears and head scratched, and resting his head in your lap while you love on him.

Ash is social with other dogs and enjoys playing with his canine friends. He is good with dogs, cats, and kids and is very treat motivated. With a low-to-medium energy level and good leash skills, he has a lovely balance of enjoying some activity while also being perfectly happy settling in and spending time with his people.

Ash does struggle with being left alone and may try to find his way back to company, so a secure home and an escape-prevention plan are extremely important for him. This clever guy has even been known to climb a 6-foot fence, so a standard fenced yard alone cannot be relied upon to keep him secure. He also becomes anxious when tied out and should not be tethered.

His crate training still needs some work, and he has shown some resource guarding around food with other animals. His foster or foster-to-adopt family should be prepared to manage feeding appropriately and continue working with him using positive training.

Giant Schnauzers are intelligent, devoted dogs who tend to bond deeply with their people, and Ash is certainly no exception. He wants to be included in family life and would thrive with people who understand that companionship and security are incredibly important to him.

Ash is neutered, heartworm negative, and has no known health concerns or physical limitations. Most of all, he is a loving, affectionate boy looking for someone who will make him feel safe, secure, and very much a part of their world. 🖤🐾
