Meet Allegra 💗🐾

Allegra is a big, beautiful 9-10-month-old girl who is quite simply happy to be alive. She approaches life with her whole heart - she plays hard, loves hard, cuddles hard and wakes up every morning ready to take on the world.

And then there are those eyes. Her foster says her eyes will captivate your soul, and it’s easy to understand why. There is something incredibly expressive and beautiful about this girl.

Allegra is affectionate, silly and extremely cuddly. One of her favourite things to do after coming out of her kennel is immediately flop herself onto the ground for cuddles and belly scratches. She’s also quite the conversationalist and likes to get chatty when she’s excited about important things like food, walks or getting out to start her day.

She’s definitely a morning girl. The second she realizes someone in the house is awake, Allegra is ready. No snooze button required - there is a whole day waiting for her and she doesn’t want to miss any of it.

Allegra is good with other dogs and currently has a foster brother she is very attached to. She is also good with teenagers 13 and older. She’s still a very young dog in a very big 75-pound body, so she needs a family prepared to continue giving her structure, consistency and positive reinforcement as she matures.

She is housetrained and has learned to use bells to communicate when she needs to go outside. She knows how to sit and stay before exiting her kennel and has been working on her leash skills. She generally walks nicely but can become unsure around certain people or dogs, so her foster has been helping her by creating space, sitting with her while they pass or crossing the road when needed.

Allegra can experience some anxiety and boredom when left in her kennel and has recently started destroying bedding or other items left inside. She may also need a moment to settle before having her collar and leash put on when it’s time to come out. These are things her future family will need to continue working through patiently as she builds confidence and matures.

Her current routine includes morning and evening walks, regular meals, playtime and plenty of kennel-free family time in the evenings. She thrives when she has routine, activity, companionship and something to look forward to.

At only 9-10 months old, Allegra is still very much growing into herself. She’s smart, exuberant and full of potential. She needs someone who understands that adolescence is a learning stage and is willing to continue helping her develop confidence and good habits.

But what really defines Allegra isn’t the things she’s still learning.

It’s how happy she is.

She loves being part of someone’s life. She loves affection. She loves playing. She loves waking up and discovering what the next day has waiting for her.

If you’re looking for a big, beautiful, goofy, affectionate young girl who lives and loves with her whole heart, Allegra might be exactly who you’ve been waiting for.
